Sport often requires very specific physical demands. The difference between winning, drawing or losing is not always determined on the field, the court or the pitch.
 
To design a sport specific training session, it is necessary to conduct a needs analysis for the sport. Each of the following needs to be considered;Sports Specific

  • The main movement activities and skills used in the sport
  • How the joints move
  • Which muscles are involved and how they contract (concentric, eccentric, isometric, plyometric)
  • Predominant energy pathway (aerobic/anaerobic)
